It has a long-stroke gas piston operating rod in a gas cylinder above the barrel. The weapon is locked with a that has 6 locking lugs which engage appropriate sockets machined into the receiver. The VSS is striker fired.
It features a cross-bolt type fire selector switch located behind the trigger, inside the trigger guard; the safety lever and the charging handle resemble those used in weapons.Features The weapon has an integral which wraps around the barrel. The barrel itself has a series of small ports drilled in the rifling grooves, leading into the suppressor which slows and cools the exhaust gases. The suppressor can be easily removed for storage or maintenance, but the VSS should not be fired without the suppressor.
The weapon's integral suppressor has a length of 284.36 mm and a diameter of 35.86 mm.The skeletonized wooden stock is a more rounded version of that provided on the; it has a rubber shoulder pad and can be removed when the rifle is dismantled for compact storage. So I know there was a recent blog back in 2018 with the similar title of fix for silent scope complete. I wanted to add comments but was unable to. I would like to see more input on the issue while using the gun.
Here is my break down of what is going on.First off I do not think it has anything to do with lighting adjustment or the type of CRT. I tried an older CRT 25' as well as a Sony Rear Projection TV. I also have 2 different Pelican light guns, 1 green and 1 black. I first test off of the Sony TV since this is the larger screen size and I wanted to see if I could get the gun to work on the Sony TV. I first tried a DVD-R copy of the Silent Scope Complete game with the Green version of the gun and did not work at all except to use the analog stick on the gun and using the trigger.
The IR did not seem to work so I thought well maybe the IR is going out on the gun. So I bought a black gun with the actual copy of the game with the same outcome. Next I tried both copies and both guns on the older smaller CRT TV with similar outcomes. I even tried changing lighting settings on both TVs as well as the options in the game. All versions in the game disc 1, 2 and 3, all had similar outcomes. So I decided I would try the House of the Dead 3 game that I had and the Pelican Gun worked just fine on both TVs even making the lighting normal.I believe the issue could be in the programming of the game since the guns work on both TVs and another game that is not silent scope. I have no answer as to why some youtube videos show people demoing the gun in action.
The only thing I can think of is maybe a version release of the game. I noticed that a lot of people had similar issues with the game when the gun and game came out.I would like to know if anyone knows any video game programmers or modders that can help out with the issue. I am also wondering if there was a patch that could be created that would fix the light gun issue. I am by far not an expert in programming but if I was I would work on this issue for sure. Maybe the answer is in the programming of house of the dead game.Any input or guidance would be awesome.
This is a great home version of the arcade classic. This comment explains exactly what's going on:I'm assuming you have played Silent Scope in the arcades, but if you're new to the series and aren't already aware, the game shows a sniper scope wherever you're aiming, therefore the game logic needs to always track where you're aiming the light gun. This is different from almost every other light gun game because in most cases, the game only checks where you're aiming when you pull the trigger. That is why in many games you'll see a white flash each time you shoot.
The game boosts the brightness momentarily in order for the light gun's detector to pick up on the location of the electron beam.Silent Scope needs to very regularly check the where you're aiming, but if the game were to flash the screen many times a second the effect would very quickly fatigue the eyes of the player. It would be unplayable. This is a physical constraint and is unlikely to be worked around for CRT displays through software.
This is why the manual instructs you to turn up the brightness. I've brought this topic up on at least 5 forums. No solution I'm aware of unfortunately.I also have the original game and multiple light guns, and have tried this on, no lie, about 50 different CRT's. Everything from Sony PVM's to BVM's (and Panasonic, Olympus, Ikegami); to consumer CRT's by Mitsubishi, Sony, JVC, Toshiba, Panasonic; models from 1982 to 2007; ones with anti glare film, and none; flat screen, semi-rounded, old-school rounded screen.etc.
Tried OG Xbox's: 1.1, 1.4, 1.6, modded and original discs x2. Not a single one will work properly on Silent Scope Complete without the brightness turned up so friggin high nearly everything is washed up - it's totally unplayable.Would love a hex edit to fix the game.but have never heard of anybody fixing this. 2 silent scope guns, one brand new in box. There are reviews all over the internet about it not working for many, many people unless you jack up the brightness pretty horribly. It's a known fault at this point. If yours works for you - I'm happy for you!
There is/was a video of a guy playing his on YouTube where the brightness looks just fine to me.it's just sad that those seem to be the exception rather than the rule. Maybe there was a defect in many of the Silent Scope guns - who knows (I do know they work just fine for HoTD II and III so I more lean towards a problem with the game programming itself). I appreciate you guys posting on this. Yeah thats where i think if you have to adjust the brightness on the tv to play the silent scope game which has not worked for me but to have the gun work at normal brightness on hotd 2 and 3, definitely game ptogramming issue. Does anyone know of blog locations that can hit up someone that may want to attempt to make a patch for the game?
I only know of the ff7 nes mod, n64, and some psx patches. Just dont know of blog sites that would get out to them.
At least i can use the mad cats and the sniper gun with hotd games till then if it even happens.
